About the Item
Steven Rehfeld's "Resonance" is a vivid tapestry of color and texture, spread across a 36" x 57" canvas. The artwork brilliantly juxtaposes warm, fiery shades of red, orange, and yellow with cool, muted segments of purple and white. Rehfeld showcases his mastery of mixed media through the layering of seemingly disparate materials. The horizontal swaths of color, reminiscent of sunsets or landscapes, are occasionally intersected by bold vertical elements, creating a harmonious sense of balance and contrast. Splatters, smudges, and patches of exposed canvas imbue the piece with raw energy and spontaneity. Torn paper and fabric, carefully integrated into the composition, add depth and tactile intrigue. "Resonance" is the fusion of chaos and order, and the beauty that arises when diverse elements come together in a harmonious symphony.
Steven is now one of the top emerging artists in the U.S. His works are groundbreaking, bold, and imbued with unflinching disregard for painting conventions. Many works are in collections and museums in the U.S.
Steven is also part of the 'Outsiders' school of art, originating in France in the 19th century. Also known as the Naïve movement, and was comprised of people with no art training at all, who suddenly started to paint. Many of them are from very challenging backgrounds. All they had was talent that had never before been tapped. In no time this movement became a major art phenomenon and spread all over the world.
His work, however, has branched out past the movement and his use of earth elements renders a basic and raw interpretation of his message.

Steven H. Rehfeld
Steven H. Rehfeld, a California artist, holds a B.A. in studio art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He draws inspiration from the 'Outsiders' school of art that originated in 19th-century France, known as the Naïve movement. Also referred to as the Naïve or Primitive art movement, was comprised of artists with no formal art training who discovered their talent and began painting. Many of these artists came from challenging backgrounds, and their raw talent remained untapped until they expressed themselves through art. The movement quickly gained prominence and spread worldwide. Steven Rehfeld's artistic style has evolved beyond the Naïve movement, incorporating earth elements to create a basic and raw interpretation of his artistic message. Artist Statement "My oil, acrylic, and mixed media paintings explore the dynamic relationship between progressiveness and tradition, personal and cultural experiences, and the interplay between the human form and iconography. Through these explorations, I engage in a dialogue that reveals how the intangible influences the material world. Color contrast forms, negative/positive space, and visual kinetic energy shape these artistic relationships. Additionally, I fuse abstract art with elements of realism to create a unique artistic experience."
